2007 Joel Lazar accepts Principal
Guest Conductor and Music Advisor positions
Acclaimed
by the Washington Post as “…one
of Washington's premier conductors of both old
and new music…”,Joel
Lazar has accepted the Washington Sinfonietta's
invitation to join as the orchestra's Principal
Guest Conductor and Music Advisor for the Board
of Directors. He will conduct two Sinfonietta
concerts during the summers or regular season
and advise the orchestra's Board of Directors
on the overall development of the orchestra.

Sy Brandon to compose new musical compostion
The
Washington Sinfonietta has received a grant from Co-op
Press Commission Assistance Grant Program for
a new musical composition composed for the Sinfonietta
by Dr. Sy Brandon which will premier Feb 9th, 2008.

perform in the NCCC's Music at Midday
Series

Okada and Sayaka Kanno (our Concertmaster and Pianist)
performed in the NCCC’s Music at Midday Series
on Thursday, December 7th, at 12:15. The half hour
program featured the Scottish Fantasy, Opus 46 for
Violin and Piano by Max Bruch and the Graceful Ghost
Rag, Concert Variation for Violin and Piano by William
Bolcom.
